Mapping Accessibility Through Google Street View

Webinar May 15

On May 15, tune in to an informative webinar to learn about a new accessibility project. A team from the University of Maryland and the University of Washington is exploring a new approach to accessibility called “Project Sidewalk”. Volunteers go on virtual walks through cities in Google Street View to assess sidewalk accessibility and label problem areas.

Since 2016, over 3,000 users have contributed 180,000 accessibility labels across 1,075 miles of streets. The collected data is shared with city governments and used to develop new accessibility-friendly mapping tools.  Tune in to learn more about the project and how it is impacting accessibility.
