Afternoon, On Friday, a friend of a friend let me know this news, and I used the service for the first time today.

InstaCart and online and app-based shopping and delivery service has just begun in the Richmond area.

www.instacart.com/

They deliver from Aldi, Kroger, and CVS. Orders and deliveries can be same day or as you schedule it. App is accessible with Voiceover on IOS devices. There could be a slight learning curve to use the website, but it’s fairly straight forward. The shopper alerts you through the app to any substitutions made because an exact item is not available, and you have the opportunity to approve or disapprove the substitution. If needed one has the option of directly communicating with your shopper/delivery person or to leave instructions for an item or delivery.

Good for busy people or anyone having difficulty getting to or managing grocery shopping because of lack of time, illness, care responsibilities, or IADL limitations.

Fees are less than some other grocery delivery options I have used in the past, and coupon use through the app or website is available too. The one-time delivery fee is $5.99 if an order is more than $35 or one can join their express membership with an annual fee, which comes with free delivery for orders over $35 and pays for itself in about 17 deliveries
