BDDS Appendix K Updates
The Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services remains committed to working collaboratively with individuals, families, case managers and providers during this extraordinary time. We continue to acknowledge and appreciate the hands-on and coordinated efforts and responses our case managers and providers have demonstrated, as well as the flexibility and resourcefulness of individuals and families.
On March 2, 2021, the Indiana Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services and Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services announced we had submitted a request for an extension of the Appendix K waiver amendments for the Family Supports Waiver and Community Integration and Habilitation Waiver.
We are pleased to share that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has approved our request, granting the extension of Appendix K waiver amendment flexibilities for up to six months after the end of the federal public health emergency for COVID-19.
The initial Appendix K waiver amendments became effective March 1, 2020. The most recent approval allows BDDS to continue use of the flexibilities, including the use of telehealth, without interruption through the duration and for six-months after the end of the federal public health emergency. The additional six-month time allows for planning and preparations necessary for teams to transition away from the flexibilities they may currently be utilizing.
