BDDS Gateway and IT update
The Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services strives to connect people with disabilities and their families to resources and supports to live their best life. In support of this mission, on February 1, 2021, the BDDS Gateway launched! The BDDS Gateway provides the opportunity for individuals and families to apply for BDDS services online. In the first month, 531 applications were received through this platform. Of those, 413 represented new individuals who are seeking to receive supports and services from BDDS.
As a reminder, the BDDS Gateway can be accessed at BDDSgateway.fssa.in.gov. Information and training materials, including a video tutorial, written instructions, and ‘Frequently Asked Questions,’ are available on the BDDS website. The BDDS Gateway is intended to be an additional avenue for individuals and families to apply for BDDS services. Therefore, paper applications are still readily available by contacting your local BDDS office or can be printed online by clicking here.
BDDS is moving forward to consolidate and enhance IT systems for providers and case managers. The BDDS Portal 2.0 will enhance transparency and increase efficiencies to support person-centered practices. Recently, a waiver service provider survey was conducted on how providers access and update appropriate information today, soliciting feedback from them on what improvements can be made in the future. A survey for case management companies will be released soon. Providers have also been contacted to obtain essential contact information for the BDDS Portal 2.0 system. As BDDS continues with these efforts, stakeholders will be updated on progress.
We look forward to continuing to partner together on the important work of supporting individuals and families in living their vision of a good life.
