BDDS Gateway and IT update

The Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services strives to connect people with disabilities and their families to resources and supports to live their best life. To further this mission, BDDS is moving forward to consolidate and enhance IT systems for providers and case managers. The BDDS Portal 2.0 will enhance transparency and increase efficiencies to support person-centered practices.

Recently, waiver service providers and case managers were offered the opportunity to respond to BDDS system consolidation project surveys regarding how information is accessed and updated and what improvements can be made in the future. Responses were received from 379 case managers and 137 providers. Responses received through these surveys will inform the BDDS Portal 2.0 rollout, training resources, business case for the process and future enhancements.

The BDDS Portal 2.0 project team is currently working on data migration from the current system, interfaces between systems, quality assurance (testing), and incorporating the Money Follows the Person grant requirements. As BDDS continues with these efforts, stakeholders will be updated on progress.

On Feb. 1, 2021, the BDDS Gateway launched which provides the opportunity for individuals and families to apply for BDDS services online, Since Feb. 1, 1,511 applications have been received through this platform! Of those, 1,201 represent new individuals who are seeking to receive supports and services from BDDS. In 2020, BDDS received an average of 68 applications per week. So far, in 2021, BDDS is averaging receipt of 137 applications each week with 82% coming through the BDDS Gateway. As a reminder, the BDDS Gateway can be accessed at BDDSgateway.fssa.in.gov.

We look forward to continuing to partner together on the important work of supporting individuals and families in living their vision of a good life.
