Bureau of Disabilities Services Supporting Choice training materials available
The Bureau of Disabilities Services is committed to supporting our provider network in working toward a true person-centered system which empowers individuals to live their best lives. BDS also expects providers to honor individual rights and to have policies and training around protecting those rights.
As part of that commitment, BDS hosted three identical web-based trainings focused on Supporting Choice.
Participants learned about:
- Why making our choices is important.
- How choice is outlined in the Home and Community-Based Settings Rule
- How to support individuals when making choices
- The importance of celebrating the successes or choices that are made and how to learn from challenges that are presented when making a choice.
A recording of the training is available here and the PowerPoint is available here
If you have questions, need additional resources, or support, or have suggestions for additional training, please contact us at BDS.Help@fssa.IN.gov. We look forward to continuing to educate and inspire providers to empower individuals to live, love, learn, work, play and pursue their dreams.
The DDRS is a program of the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration. If you have questions about DDRS programs and services, visit us online at www.DDRS.In.gov.
