An informational alert prepared by Fifth Freedom
Information courtesy of the Employment First Self-Advocates Coalition
On May 16, join the Employment First Self-Advocates Coalition for an Employment First Town Hall. People with disabilities, their families, and community members are invited to come and share your ideas for how to improve employment for people with disabilities.
The employment first movement is designed to bring real jobs with a real wage to individuals with disabilities. This is just another way that those with disabilities can be included into society. When everybody has a fair chance in society we all win and the community benefits.
Participants will discuss how Indiana and the Richmond area can increase employment and
change systems. The town hall goals are to:
· Develop a group of people in the local area supporting Employment First;
· Identify barriers to getting jobs and design a system that works for people;
· Develop local initiatives to educate and dispel myths about community employment; and
· Document success stories of people with disabilities working in Richmond and surrounding communities.
