24/7/365: Yes, We Can Go There.

As the Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System for the state, Indiana Disability Rights (IDR) is, by law, allowed to conduct monitoring visits at facilities providing services to children and/or adults with disabilities.

We know what you might be thinking. “Ok, Amy and Natasha, that sounds fancy and official but what does that really mean and how does it affect me?” What “monitoring” means is that our staff can visit places providing services to people with disabilities and look at the conditions of the facility and talk to the people being served. One of the reasons we have this tool is so we can be there to help people with disabilities to ensure they are healthy, safe, and their rights are being respected.  We also use this opportunity to provide education and training to those receiving services and to the staff.
