New resources on Home-and Community-Based Services Final Rule

The Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services is committed to working collaboratively with individuals, families, case managers, providers and interested stakeholders to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their best life in their home and community. As part of this commitment BDDS is offering two new resources for individuals, families and providers to better understand how the Home-and Community-Based Services Final Rule impacts them. The HCBS Final Rule ensures that individuals receiving BDDS waiver services have full access to the benefits of community living and the opportunity to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate. The HCBS Final Rule enhances the quality of HCBS and provides protections to the individuals utilizing waiver services.

A fact sheet for individuals and families is now available on the BDDS webpage. This fact sheet provides a high-level overview of the type of protections the final rule enforces for individuals in HCBS waiver settings.

A short video is also available on the BDDS webpage. This video provides information on the technical aspects of the HCBS Final Rule and how that may impact waiver service providers.

Questions on the HCBS Final Rule may be sent to BQIShelp@fssa.in.gov.
