At the heart of their mission lies a commitment to the principles of the Independent Living movement which is committed to promoting consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and individual and system advocacy to enhance the leadership, empowerment, independence, and productivity of individuals with disabilities. The Center tirelessly works to break down barriers that hinder individuals from fully participating in their communities, offering a range of services such as advocacy, skills training, and peer support. Overview of position:
The Chief Executive Officer leads and coordinates the achievement of ILCEIN’s mission and ensures alignment with the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). This full-time position (35 hrs./week) oversees Center operations, delegating day-to-day responsibilities based on budget and staffing. The CEO enhances programs and fosters community engagement as a leader, collaborator, and community builder.
Responsibilities:
Program Administration and Service Delivery:
- Ensure programs align with ILCEIN’s mission, values, and funding source requirements.
- Lead program development, evaluation, and systemic advocacy efforts.
- Oversee service data, tracking, and annual program reporting.
Community Relations and Advocacy:
- Present ILCEIN positively to communities and stakeholders.
- Engage in education and advocacy with policymakers, businesses, and government representatives.
- Mobilize community resources to support ILCEIN’s goals.
Fundraising and Program Development:
- Oversee fundraising strategies and grant proposals.
- Collaborate with the Board’s Communication/Marketing Committee for fundraising opportunities.
- Identify potential funding opportunities and contribute to resource development.
Fiscal and Facilities Management:
- Oversee financial strength, budget development, and resource management.
- Manage fiscal reports, vouchers, and financial reviews.
- Ensure optimal utilization of facility equipment and systems.
Board Development, Management, and Strategic Planning:
- Support Board governance and member development.
- Facilitate communication between Board, staff, and strategic planning efforts.
- Sign legally binding agreements within Board-set limits.
Human Resource Management:
- Supervise HR processes, from hiring to performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Cultivate inclusive and positive workplace culture.
Note: Other duties may be assigned by the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- Five years of management/administrative experience with a successful record of accomplishment in organizational, financial, and administrative leadership.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and incorporate the perspectives and input of a diverse range of people, background, and skills.
- Experience in public relations, outreach, and resource development.
- Familiarity with national, state and local disability legislation.
- Personal experience with a disability preferred. A qualified person with a disability strongly
Salary range: $60,000-$80,000 with competitive benefit package
